Saturday, May 1 2010, The Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Company hosts the second annual Bluegrass, Brews and BBQ- a benefit for the Leukemia, Lymphoma Society.
Featuring performances by Cabinet, Hogmaw, Voxology and more, the event runs all day beginning at noon and is all-ages and family-friendly.
Donation of $20 per person includes all-you-can-eat barbecue (pulled pork, chicken, baked beans and lots more), one draft beer and live bluegrass music all afternoon.
Greenbelt Events founder Mike Van Jura is a fifteen year survivor of Hodkins Lymphoma – a blood cancer effecting the lymph channels. “Fifteen years ago, when I was sitting in a chair receiving chemotherapy and, later, radiation treatments, organizations like the LLS were the ones working towards finding a cure and making treatments more tolerable. So now, fifteen years later, I like to try to give back as much as I can. And what better way than by throwing a bluegrass party with beer and barbecue food?”
Tickets are available online or at The Abbey Bar at Appalachian Brewing Company.
