Come say a final farewell to Ghost Town Cinema.
The band that records albums and never releases them, unapologetically shifts their focus from celebrating the beauty of love and life to a borderline morbid fascination with the impermanence of everything and the inevitability of death, and schedules a line-up change as routinely as a dreaded dental check up… Ghost Town Cinema can’t really fit into any category other than heroically ambiguous anti-folk. They can’t even really figure out what the point is, but they relentlessly continue forth anyhow, writing dozens upon dozens of songs that would evoke feelings of sympathy from most middle aged women getting tipsy at shitty wine bars. Obviously, not everyone will understand that Danny Boyer and Morgan Laubach aren’t any gloomier or more self-deprecating than they think everyone else should be about the the ridiculous and often misunderstand nature of all things human. But that really is what makes the whole thing entertaining… not only to the performers on stage generating the vibes, but the audience playing the most important role in feeling them.
