“What began as a concept to pay homage to the golden sounds of Motown has quickly become something much larger for Hip Pocket. Consumed by the soul and raw emotion of the music, Hip Pocket has ventured further into the themes that defined Motown and eventually spurned new genres. Adding a modern interpretation and taking on a sound all its own, the band has embarked upon a journey through the classic analog recordings that you grew up listening to in your parents basements. Digging through crates of records and stacks of old recordings, Hip Pocket has firmly planted its feet in the sounds of Motown, funk, and soul; from Marvin Gaye, to William DeVaughn, and from Martha Reeves to Thelma Houston. Fueled by its high energy live performances and relentless pursuit of the perfect sound, join Hip Pocket as they take you back to another time when music was born of soul and style.”
