For the past decade, Acadian powerhouse trio Vishtèn have dazzled audiences with their fiery blend of traditional French songs and original instrumentals, fusing Celtic and Acadian genres with a modern rock sensibility.
“High voltage musicians” —Le Guerét, France
Hailing from Prince Edward Island and from the remote Magdelen Islands of Québec, twin sisters Emmanuelle and Pastelle LeBlanc join forces with Pascal Miousse to form a sophisticated sonic signature. The combination of tight sibling harmonies, layered foot percussion and percussive dance, virtuoso acoustic and electric instrumentation — fiddle, guitar, accordion, harmonium, whistles, piano, bodhrán, jaw harp, moog, and electric guitar — makes for a unique tour de force of traditional and contemporary sounds.
“The burning fires of Acadia — Le Télégramme, Lorient, France
After touring extensively on three continents, the name Vishtèn is now synonymous with Acadian music worldwide. They have released four albums and performed at thousands of international festivals, from the Vancouver Olympics to France’s Interceltique de Lorient. Their music has been showcased on American television (ESPN) and in the Japanese film, Finding Anne.
